Tips to Go Greener

These tips are from The Green Book:  The Everyday Guide to Saving the Planet One Simple Step at a Time.

Forget the Receipt

Don't take an ATM receipt.  ATM receipts are one of the top sources of litter on the planet.  If everyone in the U.S. did not take a receipt from the ATM, it would save a roll of paper more than a billion feet long, or enough to circle the equator 15 times.

Don't wash your own car

Commercial car washes use up to 100 less gallons of water to wash a car.  They often recycle and reuse rinse water.  If everyone who washed their own car chose to go to a professional car wash just once, up to 8.7 billion gallons of water could be saved and several billions of soapy, polluted  water could be diverted from rivers, lakes and streams.

Birdhouses Using Natural Material

The artistic schedule for our January 2008 meeting was "Birdhouses Using Natural Materials."  Exhibitors Eileen Landry, Joan Ogle and Vivian Thain designed the gorgeous birdhouses, below, that any bird would love to visit.

The birdhouses were on display at the Community Center and the Guilford Free Library.
